70’s style shoot!

Happy Friday! After a crazy work load in August it’s time to start blogging again. I’ve had a few days off to recharge and am now ready for the Fall! Alex (ToVogueOrBust) and Alicia (Alicia Fashionista) asked if I would be interested in collaborating on a 70’s style shoot with a twist of modern beauty and of course, I was onboard right away! Plus Christie Graham was shooting it, so how could I say no! This tutorial will show you how to create a 70’s style makeup look!

The 70’s style shoot was recently seen on The Everygirl! Alex and Alicia rocked two different looks and made flared trousers look killer! It was so much fun re-creating some 70’s makeup trends that are now back in style.

Alex’s Makeup look:

For Alex’s 70’s style makeup my goal was to create that sun-kissed retro glow with decade inspiration style icon Farrah Fawcett!

Step 1: Moisturize well before applying foundation/tinted moisturizer. Your goal when applying foundation is to have it look like your skin, making sure you blend and only use a small amount to even out the skin tone. Use a small amount of concealer underneath the eye area and lightly set everywhere with a translucent powder.

Step 2: Using peachy and apricot tones apply product on the apple of the cheeks. You can also use a highlighter right above the cheek bones. Use bronzer around the perimeter of the face and lightly contour around the cheek bones.

Step 3: Use copper and gold eyeshadow from the lash line to the crease then gently blend to soften the look. Line the eyes with a black liner and smudge underneath with the copper eyeshadow.

Step 4: Lips can be very natural, almost looking like you are wearing lip balm. I’d try to match something similar to your natural lip colour.

Alicia’s Makeup Look:

The 70’s style makeup look for Alicia was specially created from style icon Cher! Focusing on pastel eyeshadow colour and thick lashes was the perfect look for Alicia.

Step 2: Apply a bronzer around the forehead, down the side of the temples and then underneath the cheek bones. Use a cheek colour with a bit of shimmer/bronze colour for this look. Apply blush on the apples of the cheeks then blend upwards to give the cheekbones a bit more definition.

Step 3: The key focus in creating this look is to use pastel white/pink flat colours on the lid and thick lashes. Once you’ve applied the pastel colour use a mauve flat colour to contour in the crease. Line the eyes with black liner on top and underneath enhancing the bottom lashes.

Step 4: Use a beige/brown colour for this look and line the outer lip area.
