Valentines Day Smokey Eye
It’s almost that special time of year, Valentines Day! Whether you’ll be spending it with your significant other or hanging with close friends I’m sure you’ll to be wanting to look fab and feminine in whatever you do!
Instead of the typical red lips for Valentines Day I thought it would be nice to switch things up. In this post I created a Valentines Day Smokey Eye Tutorial using purple/taupe tones giving you a romantic glow for the evening!
Step 1: Eye Primer
Make sure to apply primer on your eyelids this will help lock in the shadow to make it last through the evening and not crease. I love using the Laura Mercier Eye Basic. If you don’t have primer, you can use concealer or foundation however the staying power won’t be as long and you will want your Valentines Day smokey eye to last!
Step 2: Cream Eye Pencil
To start the look, I will be using a Glo Minerals cream eye shadow in merlot. The crayon application is extremely smooth and has a little shimmer to it which is really pretty! Sweep across the eyelid all the way from the inner corner to the crease, you can use your finger to blend around the crease area if needed.
Step 3: Black Liner
Next, apply black eyeliner along the top lash line (tip: gel liner last the longest). If you want a true smokey eye, go a bit heavier on the eyeliner and bring it down underneath the eye too.
Step 4: Shadow in Crease
To create a darker smokey eye use a deep mauve colour by blending to the shape of the eye with back and forth motion (like windshield wiper). This will create a pop in your eyes having creating more depth!
Step 5: Mascara
Now to finish, applying black mascara to polish up the look! I recently starting use the new Glo Minerals mascara and loving the volume it gives and the brush applicator is a nice size! Add a second or even third coat for more drama.
Step 6: Final Step
To complete the look, I thought it would be perfect to apply a light pink lipstick and a hint of pink to the cheeks. This way the focus will be kept mainly on the eyes with such a subtle lip colour. I used my favourite pink lipstick and gorgeous new cream blush guava from Glo Minerals.
Now you will be looking flawless in your Valentines Day smokey eye! If you’re still one who loves that classic red lip then follow my step by step red lips tutorial here, enjoy!!
