Always wondered how to match your foundation? Finding the right foundation shade and applying it perfectly is one of the most important steps to achieve a flawless looking complexion. Everyone’s been there before…gone to a makeup counter, bought a new foundation then you get home and notice it’s completely the wrong shade. Frustrating!!
With these simple steps you’ll be able to match your shade on your own.
Step 1: Swatch 2-3 shades
The best way to match your shade perfectly is to apply 2 to 3 shades of foundation on the jaw line based of the colour you think is closest to your skin tone by looking at the bottle.
Step 2: Make sure it disappears
Stand back a bit in front of the mirror and see which one disappears into the skin. If none disappear into the skin then you need to try a few more shades.
Step 3: Blend it out
Once you see a shade that blends (disappears) into the skin best take your favourite foundation brush or a beauty blender and start blending a small amount of foundation in the centre of the face moving towards the forehead and chin.
Remember: The center of the face usually requires the most coverage and by keeping minimal foundation towards the hairline this will make sure you don’t achieve that “cakey” look.
Now to finish off the foundation and make sure it holds in place all day, use a lightweight oil free powder to set.
